Received an email from the Canadian Soccer Association earlier today issuing their statement on match fixing:
Canadian Soccer Association statement on match fixing
19 September 2012
Following recent media reports concerning match fixing in the Canadian Soccer League, the Canadian Soccer Association issued the following statement:
The Canadian Soccer Association does not condone match fixing in the sport of soccer. We will continue to work within our governing structure in full cooperation with FIFA, CONCACAF and our members to eradicate this type of activity from our game. We are committed to growing the sport of soccer in this country under the right circumstances.
Arukidinme, I'm assuming you received the same email? Well, I'm glad they're committed to growing the sport in Canada. Too bad the government isn't. How about spending a bit more money on soccer programs in Canada? Maybe then our 12th ranked economy in the world won't produce a national team outside the top 50 in the world. It's a shame really, because we have the funds, resources and support to produce a winning team.
Anyhow, I remember a few of us were discussing match fixing in CONCACAF the other day, so I thought I'd share.
